Happy Mother's Day
I have already had a wonderful start to the Mother's Day weekend. This morning there was a special Mothers Mass at Barrett's school where the children sang beautifully and even sang a blessing song for all of us. Then we went back to the classroom where the kids serenaded us again and served us morning treats and gave us gifts. It was very special!

Reigning Egghunt Champion...
We hid a whopping 115 eggs this year. Barrett holds her title on top with 41.
This year's 2nd place winner with 29 eggs is ......Peyton! Those Laspe girls are quick and focused.
Richie came in with 27 eggs saying "Barrett always wins..." and Matt brought up the rear with 18. There's always next year! With a little training.....
Barrett and Richie found the bonus prize eggs with the $5 prize. They were happy hunters!

My Little Fashion Model
Barrett was a swimsuit model in the American Girl Fashion Show at Sacred Heart Academy in St. Charles on March 6th, 2009. Despite her usual shy demeanor, she did a dynamite job strutting the runway. She had a great time and I'm so proud of her!

Let's go to the hop
On Friday night, Barrett and I went to a sock hop at her school. In preparation for the dance, all the kids learned dance steps in gym class that they could perform at the event. She learned the swim, the twist, the monkey, the hokey pokey and of course, the chicken dance. One day she came home and said that she learned two dances that were way too hard and way too fast -- but she couldn't remember what they were called. After a short description, I came to the conclusion that they were the Macarena and the Hand Jive -- and I gave her a brief presentation of both. She was shocked that that her OLD mom would know how to do these things.
